Preventing Gender-Based Violence
Sexual and gender-based violence is a growing problem in Kenya—and women and girls are most at risk. The lack of resources available to respond, plus a culture of fear, mean many cases go unreported. We are working to reduce the prevalence of violence against women by providing safety, psychosocial support, human rights awareness, and more for survivors.
Health Systems Strengthening
In many communities across Kenya, women and children struggle to access quality care. With limited medical services, communities suffer. To deliver quality care to more people, we build and equip health facilities, train community health workers, and provide skills-based training.
Infectious Diseases
In Kenya, infectious diseases are among the leading causes of death. Without interventions, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and diarrheal illnesses can overwhelm healthcare systems, especially those that are already taxed. Through prevention, awareness, and treatment, CMMB saves lives across Kenya.
Maternal, Newborn, & Child Health
In parts most rural parts of Kenya, women and their babies die during pregnancy and childbirth at an alarming rate. Often, these deaths occur because quality medical care is out of reach. CMMB is working to provide antenatal care to more women and encourage more in-facility births.
Non-Communicable Diseases
With regular care and medication, people with NCDs like hypertension and diabetes can lead healthy lives. But when health facilities run out of supplies, the results can be tragic. Through partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, we are making sure Kenyans have the medicines they need.
Sustainable Livelihoods
Women are often among the most vulnerable members of society. Investing in women and their children lifts families out of poverty and transforms communities. Through cash transfers and micro-loans, we are helping women secure their economic futures and helping children access education.
Access to Safe Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene
Good health requires clean water, sanitation infrastructure, and hygiene facilities. We are working to increase access to safe water through infrastructure like hand washing stations, water storage tanks, sand dams, water purification sachets, and ventilated improved latrines—giving more communities the foundations they need to achieve better health.

Cancer Care
Cancer is among the leading causes of death in Kenya, with particularly high rates for breast and cervical cancers. But late diagnoses are common, making treatment more challenging. By increasing access to screening and preventative measures, as well as creating awareness, CMMB is reducing cancer deaths.
