Reduce malaria incidences and deaths in Kenya’s highlands region.
In Nandi, Nyamira, and Kericho counties, Kenyans are all too familiar with the threat of malaria. Our work strengthens the connection between community-level malaria interventions and health facilities and has benefited 100,000 people with malaria preventive services.
We train and equip community health promoters to detect, diagnose, and treat malaria cases through the active case finding approach—a swift response can make all the difference. And since pregnant women and their babies are particularly vulnerable to malaria, those identified by community health promoters are given preventative treatment to keep them and their babies safe.
In health facilities, we facilitate oversight and supportive supervision to improve the quality of malaria care. We support 231 health facilities that are crucial in referring and treating suspected malaria cases through the availability of malaria commodities, proper waste disposal, and infection control measures. To track outbreaks, we strengthen local health management information systems to provide timely, accurate malaria data.
