Why

Improving breast and cervical cancer outcomes by expanding access to screening services and health education.

What

In Kitui County, breast and cervical cancers account for an alarming 52% of all cancer cases. What’s worse, because screening and preventative services are hard to access, many women receive late diagnoses, which can lead to poor outcomes.

In partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, we are working to improve access to cervical and breast cancer care. We increase awareness of these diseases and dispel myths or misconceptions through community education.

To enhance quality of care and treatment, we train healthcare workers on screening, cryotherapy, diagnostics, data management, and palliative care.

In 2023, we built and equipped a new cancer center at Kitui County Referral Hospital, giving women in Kitui a close place to go to receive quality healthcare. We also organize support group meetings for cancer patients and provide financial and transportation support for women facing financial barriers.
