On August 25, 2025, the Centre for Medical Mobilisation Board (CMMB Kenya) signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Health, County Government of Siaya, to strengthen Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) interventions through its Non-Communicable Diseases Initiative (NCDI) project. The NCDI project, currently active in 10 Kenyan counties—Nyamira, Migori, Homa Bay, Machakos, Nairobi, Kitui, Kwale, and Mombasa—focuses on improving access to essential medicines for diabetes and hypertension, strengthening the supply chain for NCD drugs, and enhancing data management for an effective NCD response.

In Siaya County, the initiative will be implemented in five Level 3 health facilities: Goibei, Simenya, Manywanda, Kadenge Ratuoro, and Malanga.

The signing ceremony was led by Dr. Martin Konyango, County Executive Committee Member for Health, joined by the County NCD Coordinator, Medical Officers of Health from Gem, Ugunja, Rarieda, Alego Usonga, and Bondo sub-counties, and representatives from the beneficiary health facilities. CMMB Kenya was represented by Jesse Kihuha, NCDI Program Manager. The Siaya County Government expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, recognizing CMMB’s commitment to strengthening health systems and improving the quality of life for individuals living with NCDs.

This collaboration marks a significant step toward addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in Siaya County and beyond.
