Provide health workers in Kenya’s most vulnerable communities with medicines and medical supplies to treat hypertension and diabetes.
Around the world, more people are living with chronic disease, especially in low- and middle-income countries. These conditions often require lifelong adherence to medication, and when health facilities run out of supply, the consequences can be deadly.
CMMB Inc.’s Medical Donations Program procures and distributes high-quality medicine and medical supplies to health facilities globally. But the need, especially for chronic diseases, remains substantial.
The new Targeted Global Impact Initiative is being piloted by CMMB, with the ultimate goal of helping people live longer with chronic disease. Together with the Ministry of Health and 27 health facilities, we are partnering with pharmaceutical companies to make sure that Kenyan health facilities can maintain a reliable supply treatment for hypertension and diabetes.
With input from local pharmacists, we are also thinking holistically about how to approach other challenges related to NCDs: the long distances to health facilities, a lack of understanding about NCDs, and community hesitation to medical care.
