Why

Support mothers and children under five by expanding access to quality healthcare at both the facility and community levels.

What

In rural parts of Kenya, like Kitui County, most people live in poverty. The maternal and child death rates are among the worst in the country. With healthcare options limited and often far away from rural populations, CMMB’s work focuses on bringing access closer.

CHAMPS, our signature Children and Mothers Partnership program, was launched in Kenya to remove the barriers to healthcare for women and their children. Since then, it has reduced the rate of maternal and child mortality and improved health. Its success has resulted in the program’s expansion into Kitui Central, Mwingi Central, and Mwingi North Sub-counties. The program’s impact is the result of community involvement, adaptation to local needs, and innovative techniques.

Health Systems Strengthening

To address gaps in the quality of care available at facilities, we distribute medicines, supplies, and equipment to hospitals and clinics. We support  the Kitui County Referral Hospital, Our Lady of Lourdes Mission Hospital in Mutomo, Mwingi Level IV Hospital, and 171 other primary healthcare facilities, collectively serving more than 750,000 people since 2019.
